Xiaomi is five years old now but it entered the Indian market in July last year. Xiaomi is mostly popular because of its low-priced smartphones which are rich in features. Hugo Barra, Xiaomi’s vice president of international operations, said, that the company has huge plans for the Indian market and significant amount of research and development is required for the same. Xiaomi has grown as the fifth-largest company in the Indian market and it's currently evaluating locations to set up manufacturing unit. Barra's recent comments reinstate the company's commitment towards the Indian market. Barra didn't disclose the figures on how much the company would invest in India but the company is looking forward to finance startups and will roll out service centers too. Local business is the most powerful thing to happen, as noted by Barra, and India is a potential export hub too. Starting with the domestic market services, the Chinese smartphone maker will expand to more markets in South Asia, boosting its exporting plans. The company sells smartphones primarily through Flipkart following flash sale model. Now it will open 100 stores in the country too. |
